Cacklefest 2003

Winston Churchill one said "The farther backward you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see"
I guess the people at Cacklefest were really looking forward as 32 pieces of history filled the night with the sights, sounds and smells that bring back memories and a tear to the eye of the men that built and drove these beautiful creations from days gone by. No photograph can capture the essence of this event but here, in no particular order,  is a few shots for those of use that wasn't there to be a part of this most thrilling part of CHRR.

 

Dave West in the very beautiful and always popular Beebe & Mulligan recreation

 


Dwight Salisbury was in the seat of "The Addict" 


This was the first time out for Dave Sammons newly restored Ewell, Stecker & Kamboor "Chubasco"
Fueler.  Adam Sorokin had the pleasure of being  in the seat The car is gorgeous and it's history and the restoration can be seen by "CLICKING HERE"


Ron Johnson brought the Lincoln powered digger of Ted Cyr with son Kol behind the wheel.


Randy Bradford had his AA/FA Fiat cackling in the night.


Dennis Fenstermaker had this Chevy powered car belching nitro for the first time


The "Greeks" Fuller car came out of the museum again this year but the car will be heading home to the Garlits Museum soon. I don't know who was in the seat this year.


What else can be said about this car as it keeps getting better and better. Gary Cochran was in the seat again as he was in Bowling Green. To see this car as it was being built CLICK HERE


Art Chrisman passes the crowd in the very long running "Hustler I"


Mike Kuhl and Carl Olsen had their digger looking and sounding great


Sy Sidebotham brought his beautiful King and Marshall car all the way from NH and cackled long and loud with Tom Steed behind the wheel. This car made some pretty impressive 600' squirts during the day on Saturday as well.


Tommy Larkin was out again this year in the Weiss & Larkin car.


The "Lowbuck Special" Fuel Altered helped fill the air with "music" too.


Bill Pitts, who pretty much "fathered" the whole "cackle movement" one again had the Fuller built "Magicar" sounding and looking great. As usual, Jeep Hampshire was at the controls.  If you would like a chance to set in this car for a "Fire-up" CLICK HERE to find out how


The absolutly beautiful recreated AA/GS Willys of  "Big John" Mazmanian was on hand as well

 


The recreated early digger of Dean Moon with the front mount Potvin blower set-up was on hand for the festivities To read the "Dean Moon Story" CLICK HERE


Bob Deburn brought out his version of the "Poison Ivy" car with Don Irvin doing the driving honors


Ron Hope 'Cackles" Don Green's "Rat Trap" AA/FA and the car also made a 200+ mph run over the weekend.


The 'Howard's Cams Rattler" had Ronnie Hampshire in the seat this year.


Dennis Prater brought the just completed restoration of the Fuller built S & H "Red Stamp Special" out still "in the white" (no paint). John Shoemaker who was in the seat did the great restoration wit a little help from Kent Fuller. I can't wait to see it in the red metalflake paint that will soon adorn the body. Nitrogeezer 'Red Greth" brought the Speed Sport car out for the evening too


Albert Eishenbaugh climbs from the Stienegger & Eishenbaugh car that came from Arizona to make some fire and noise.


Sam davis got the call this year to control the power of the "Freight Train" twin gas car of John Peters


Sorry, but nobody got me ant info on this injected car


A man with a lot of seat time in a nitro car, Wayne King had the Clayton, Doss & King car making some noise


Last bur certainly not least is the "Bank Americar" of John & Don Ewald with Don at the helm. The problems and the thrash to get this car in the show was reminiscent of the old days and has been well documented by Don  Click Here for the rest of the story.
