Myself and others who are interested in seeing "Period Correct" Gassers run have come up with a set of rules for that purpose. Please take a look at them and send me your comments and suggestions. It would be great to see both the dragsters and gassers running and if we work together it can be done Nostalgia Gasser Class Rules CLASS DESIGNATIONS Designations:
AA/GS, BB/GS, and CC/GS (Supercharged) Designations:
A/G, B/G, C/G, D/G, E/G, F/G, and G/G ( Non-Supercharged) ENGINE AND ELECTRICAL Engine-
Any steel or aluminum heads allowed. Any steel blocks allowed. Engine may be
relocated, but not to exceed 10% of the wheelbase, as measured from the
centerline of the front spindles to the nearest engine spark plug hole. Engine
may not be raised more than 24" from ground, measured from the centerline
of the front of the crankshaft to the ground. Exhaust- Open headers required. . Fuel- Gas and alcohol permitted. Nitro methane and nitrous oxide prohibited. .Induction- Any vintage mechanical combination of intake and carb, or injection allowed. Absolutely no electronic fuel injection permitted. Throttle- No throttle stops, or any other electronic, hydraulic, or pneumatic device that affects throttle operation allowed. Ignition- Single mag only. No visible electronic ignition systems allowed Driver Assist- No delay boxes, crossover boxes, two three step rev limiters, or any other driver assist devices allowed, unless specified elsewhere All other requirements and specifications of the sanctioning body of host track must be followed. DRIVE TRAIN Clutch- Electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, or any other device may in no way affect clutch operation. Transmission- Each individual shift must be function of the driver No use of trans brakes permitted. No air shifters, or any other electric or electronic means of affecting the shifting mechanism allowed. All other requirements and specifications of the sanctioning body of host track must be followed. BRAKES, SUSPENSION, AND CHASSIS Line locks allowed. Chassis- OEM or replica of era correct OEM chassis allowed. Any chassis other than OEM must "appear" vintage. Suspension- All vintage style suspensions including but not limited to leaf spring, ladder bar, coil type suspension allowed. IFS, or any other modem and/or mail order kit type front or rear suspension prohibited. Wheelbase- Minimum 90" wheelbase. . Wheels- Wheels are to be originals or replicas of magnesium wheels recommended. . Tires- Not to exceed 12" maximum tread width . All other requirements and specifications of the sanctioning body of host track must be followed. BODY Bodies- Must be pre-1963 body style. Body may be chopped and/or channeled to a maximum of 5" total height reduction. No radical alterations to stock height, length, width or contour allowed. The cars must "look" the part of a Nostalgia Gasser i.e. no streamlining, radically raised wheel wells, wings, modern hood scoops or modem style graphics, etc. No Pro-Mod type bodies. IMPORTANT NOTICE: These Nostalgia Gasser Class Rules are written in the spirit of keeping the overall appearance of all cars in competition to truly resemble that of the vintage Gassers. The term "Vintage" throughout these rules is to be understood as previous to 1970. We highly encourage the use of period correct parts, and for the racers and builders to strive for the vintage look. All cars racing in the Nostalgia Gasser Class are subject to inspection by tech committee, and any deviations from these Rules could be cause for disqualification until corrections are made. All decisions or concessions will be at the sole discretion of the _________ and racers must meet the requirements and specifications of the sanctioning body of the host track.
