Drag Sport Illustrators Annual Series
Match Race Madness in Santa Ana, Calif., has announced the first
edition of the new annual series Drag Sport Illustrators. Published in collaboration with musclecar diecast business Little Detroit
Collectibles of Bismarck, ND., Drag Sport Illustrators is to be an annual volume
focusing on one of the sport's highlight years; the 2004 edition will cover the
1970 Pro Stock season. A limited edition, 52-page perfect-bound volume with
color wraps, the book covers all the major players in that inaugural year of
the heads-up doorslammer division, including Sox & Martin, Bill Jenkins,
Dick Landy, Wally Booth, Dyno Don Nicholson and many more. These are highlighted
by photography from the Match Race Madness archive, including images by Jim
Kelly, Eric Brooks, Marty Johnson, Jere Alhadeff and others. Journalist Al
Kirschenbaum and Geoff Stunkard were responsible for the accompanying extended
